The Kayak Journal crew headed down to Mobile, Alabama to meet up with Jimbo Meador to do some kayak fishing and poling through the flats.

Location
Kings Bay is located on the western side of Prince William Sound. Kings Bay is close Whittier and fairly easy to access.
Unique Qualities
The Kings Bay area is considered one of the most scenic areas in Prince William Sound. There are 8 glaciers with 1 tidewater glacier remaining that you can see; there are also signs of recent glaciation. Kings Bay, like much of Prince William Sound, has calm waters, most of the time.
When to Go
The best time to visit Kings Bay is between May and September, but June is the optimal time.

Prince William Sound
Location
Prince William Sound, located on South Coastal Alaska Inland Sea, has a plethora of glaciers, wildlife, and an unforgettable wilderness. The Prince William Sound is easy paddling conditions (unless there is a storm or katabatic winds), so it is accessible by kayakers of all levels.
Accessibility
Prince William Sounds can be reached from Port Whittier, Valdez or Cordova, Seward if you use the
state ferry to get to Chenega Bay. It is also close to Anchorage (50 miles)
A water taxi is not necessary, but can be really helpful to get away from
the port of Whittier
Where to Go
Within Prince William Sound, the best places to go are Blackstone Bay, Harriman Fiord, Nellie Juan Fiord &
Kings Bay, Icy Bay, Knight Island, Columbia Glacier, and Glacier
island.
When to Go
The best time to go is between May and September, but June - August is the peak season.
Rain Fall
Annual precipitation: 165 inches (lots of glaciers) its a temperate rain-forest
Needed Gear
Gear you'll want to have: rubber boots, good rain-gear, tarps, and
ropes/pulleys to hang your food, drysuits don't hurt, oh yeah, I
forgot, you'll need 4 season tents in case the wind decides to blow.
